Virgin River fans were sent into a frenzy after spotting a certain famous location from the show in Eric Bana drama Untamed
Fans of Netflix’s Virgin River were sent into a frenzy after spotting Mel Monroe’s iconic cabin in the streaming giant’s latest drama Untamed, staring Eric Bana. The cosy cabin, a central and instantly recognisable location in Virgin River, is not just a set – it’s a real life location situated in Murdo Frazer Park on Vancouver’s North Shore.
The cabin was built in 1950 and served as the park caretaker’s residence and has since became a favourite filming location for various shows, popping up in more productions than fans have been aware of…until now.
In Untamed, the cabin is featured in scenes set in Yosemite National Park. Despite the story taking part in California, the production was filmed in British Columbia, Canada using the same location that the Virgin River team use, and where the cast have just finished filming season 7.
A eagled eyed Virgin River fan was the first to notice the surprising cameo of Mel’s cabin in Untamed, taking to Reddit to share the discovery with other viewers.
The fan uploaded a picture of the scene, along with the caption: “Mel’s Cabin in Untamed. Netflix’s Untamed used the same cabin as in Virgin River”
The post quickly sparked a wave of comments. One user responded, writing: “Oh i knew it looked familiar,” while another stated: “I KNEW IT. I thought i was going crazy.”

But not everyone was caught off guard as several users pointed out that the connection was quite obvious. One viewer penned: “I knew this. They’re both filmed in Vancouver.”
Another added further context about the cabin’s filming history, penning: “Cabin can be seen in The Supernatural as well!”

During the second episode of season one of Supernatural which aired in 2005, the cabin features as a ranger station in the middle of the woods, when the main characters go on the hunt for several missing people.

Similarly to Virgin River, Stargate SG-1, which ran for ten seasons from 1998 to 2007, features the iconic cabin in multiple episodes. Although this series uses the cabin as one of the characters fishing cabins, different from Mel’s home.
Additionally, Teryl Rothery, who plays Muriel in Virgin River, features in this show, meaning she isn’t a stranger to filming in the location in British Columbia.
Once Upon a Time

During the hit fantasy adventure drama, Once Upon A Time, the cabin is used as Mr Gold’s Cabin in the first season of the show. Unlike Virgin River the cabin is used as a secret lair where the show’s character kidnaps people.
