Actress Tina Malone broke down in tears live on Good Morning Britain as she opened up on the ‘horrendous’ lead up to her husband’s death.
The Celebrity Big Brother star got emotional as she spoke about her late husband Paul Chase, who passed away last March after a lifelong struggle with his mental health.
Tina, 62, opened up on how Paul, who was 41 when he died, had attempted to take his own life twice before in an ongoing battle with PTSD.
He had developed the mental health condition following his difficult memories and experiences from being at war in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Speaking on Good Morning Britain on Thursday, Tina called on the government to prioritise help for veterans suffering from mental health issues following service.
Sitting down with hosts Ed Balls and Susanna Reid, the Brookside actress became visibly upset as she revealed how bad Paul’s PTSD had become.

Tina’s late husband Paul Chase passed away last March after a lifelong struggle with his mental health following a series of tours with the Army
Recalling the events of the year leading up to his death, Tina said: ‘He tried to take his life twice in 2023, a year before he died.’
Breaking down in tears, and comforted by host Susanna, 54, she went on: ‘I caught him. I won’t go into detail, it was horrendous the last two or three years, dealing with it all.
‘But trying to prove undiagnosed PTSD is very, very difficult because obviously there is compensation issues and what have you.’
During his time in the armed forces, Paul served in Iraq, Afghanistan, Falklands, Belize and Northern Ireland.
Tina, who welcomed daughter Flame with Paul in 2013, explained that there had been a worsening lack of support towards the end of his life.
She continued: ‘Paul had issues in the last six months particularly of his life.
‘Some services I used, I said “You can’t let him come home with me with a 10-year-old, he’s saying what he’s going to do”.’
Tina opened up on the changes she saw in Paul, adding: ‘When we met in 2009, he was not long back from Afghanistan and left the army after 10 years.

Recalling the events of the year leading up to his death, Tina revealed how Paul had ‘tried to take his life twice in 2023’
‘Paul was a very loving, romantic, caring, wonderful man, 19 years younger than me, very laid back, very chill.
‘But within a month, I knew from the sleep apnea, from the panic attacks, I unfortunately concealed his depression because I was in the public eye.
‘I didn’t want to confront it, so it was a long time before we saw doctors.
‘We would have been 15 years married in August just gone, we were inseparable. We had in 14 years what people don’t have in 50 years, we were really close.
‘Many times I would sit holding his hand during the night, with no substances, no alcohol, no cigarettes, nothing, when he would rock and shake.
‘Cut through to a couple of years ago when it manifested in him going off the rails.’
It comes after Tina emotionally revealed that she ‘can’t wait’ for the day she is reunited with her late spouse as she spoke on the Suddenly Single podcast.
She explained she ‘wouldn’t be here now’ if it wasn’t for her youngest child Flame, who is grieving the loss of her father.
