Susanna Reid Didn’t Just Break the News — She Broke the Mood, and Her Three Words Left Good Morning Britain Holding Its Breath

The segment was smooth. The rhythm — familiar. Then came the alert. Susanna Reid turned to camera, paused, and said it straight: “That’s bad.” No panic. No drama. Just impact. The inflation numbers had landed. And what followed wasn’t commentary. It was concern. Because when morning TV stops smiling, the country doesn’t just listen. It braces

During the latest instalment of Good Morning Britain, ITV audiences witnessed Susanna Reid and Richard Madeley delivering updates as Hamas commenced releasing hostages from Gaza.

Whilst providing breaking news on the unfolding situation, the presenting duo were accompanied by Adam Ma’anit, whose cousin Tsachi Idan was tragically murdered after being seized by Hamas.

Tsachi’s 18-year-old daughter, Maayan, was also brutally shot in front of him before his capture.

As hostages and victims’ remains are freed today, Adam discussed his family’s ordeal with Susanna and Richard.

Welcoming Adam, Susanna remarked: “I want to say good morning to you and I say that, knowing that it is a good morning for you, despite the tragedy that you’re family has experienced, isn’t it?”

He responded: “Absolutely, this has been the dream for all of the families for the last two years. We’ve all grown to feel like we’re all part of the same family.

“We’ve shared in each other’s joys when the hostages were released alive and returned to their families, and we’ve shared in their sorrow and grief when, like our family, they returned in coffins.

“This is a momentous day; it’s the end of a chapter. It is a really horrific nightmare for so many families and for Israeli society.”

Adam revealed the day brought mixed feelings, describing it as bittersweet for his family, knowing Tsachi tragically won’t be returning home alive. However, he revealed that the man who was captured alongside his cousin was safe and had been freed that day, reports Wales Online.

Adam has previously appeared on Good Morning Britain, expressing his hopes that his cousin remained alive, though tragically, without his knowledge, this wasn’t the reality.

He revealed: “It turns out that he was murdered several months after he was taken. He was paraded in a Hamas propaganda video in January 2024. We think he was killed just some time after that.”

Susanna responded: “It’s such a cruelty, Adam, that it was a year after you’d seen that sign of life, that hostage video where he was paraded.

“A year afterwards, you were on our programme talking about your hopes that he would be released, but you now know he was dead at the time you were talking to us. That’s just heartbreaking for you.”

Adam informed the two hosts that his cousin was laid to rest beside his eldest daughter, admitting it was the most devastating funeral he’d ever witnessed.

Just four days after Maayan celebrated her 18th birthday, she was assisting her father in blocking the door when Hamas breached the border.

As the discussion drew to a close, Susanna concluded: “Thank you for being with us this morning. I know you’re going to stay with us throughout the morning.

“It’s a hugely emotional experience for you and for the families of all of those who are going to be able to hug their living family members, and a desperate situation for those who will receive a body like you in a coffin, but at least they’ll have their family member home.”

He responded: “Yes, there’s some comfort in it. I can speak from experience, there’s a semblance of closure you can have.”
