Celebrity Traitors contestant Kate Garraway has spoken out about Tom Daley’s side eye moment, confessing she’s had a “hard time” on the programme.

The 58 year old presenter joined the BBC hit show’s celebrity version after revealing she’s a devoted fan of the original series.

But just two episodes in, Kate has already faced backlash from viewers for ‘behaving like a Traitor’ despite actually being a Faithful.

Her fellow celebrity contestants have also noticed her suspicious conduct, with viewers spotting Olympian Tom Daley shooting the broadcaster a ‘side eye’ during Thursday night’s (9th October) instalment.

On Friday’s (10th October) Good Morning Britain, Kate appeared alongside co-host Adil Ray as they brought viewers up to speed with the latest headlines from across Britain and beyond, reports Wales Online.

The pair were accompanied in the studio by comedian Melvin Odoom for the entertainment section, and it wasn’t long before discussion shifted to the latest Traitors episode.

During the previous evening’s show, a coffin-based challenge disclosed that vocalist Paloma Faith had been ‘murdered’ by the Traitors, leaving Tom taken aback by Kate’s response.

Following the revelation of Paloma’s elimination, Kate remarked, “I’m flabbergasted,” prompting a sideways glance from Tom.

Subsequently, Tom was seen speaking with Alan Carr, Cat Burns and Charlotte Church, sharing suspicions that Kate might be a Traitor.

Speaking about the incident, Kate explained: “The weird thing for me is like everyone at home we don’t know anything that is happening, we don’t know about the people talking about us behind our back and it prompted a massive conversation with my kids last night.”

She added: “‘Oh my gosh people are talking about you behind your back, what is going to happen’. It allowed me to have the conversation with them that this is a game and everyone in there is playing a game.

“Actually in life you can’t control what people say about you so you just have to be yourself. I just had to say that so people don’t blame Tom Daley or anyone else.”

However, that wasn’t the only incident that raised eyebrows. Kate sparked further speculation after her dramatic outburst at breakfast.

When all the celebrities arrived at breakfast without a murder having occurred, Kate jumped to her feet and declared The Traitors might have recruited somebody.

Several other contestants also noticed she seemed to be behaving unusually.

Melvin couldn’t resist sharing a clip from the programme as colleague Adil cheekily recreated the moment by standing up himself.

The room erupted with laughter as Kate confessed: “Oh my goodness, I’m having such a hard time.”
