Few celebrity couples remain as universally well-known as Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton.

Meeting in 2014, dating in 2015, engaged in 2020, and marrying in 2021, Stefani and Shelton continue to delight fans with their long-standing relationship and wholesome interactions together, as seen through the avid applause every time they appear together on-stage.

As if the occasional musical duet wasn’t exciting enough, Stefani and Shelton are officially teaming up for a brand-new series for Prime Video, taking on the magical world of The Wizard of Oz for the fan-favorite streaming provider (as confirmed by Deadline).

As fans of the 1939 adaptation of L. Frank Baum’s children’s novel likely know, The Wizard of Oz follows a young girl named Dorothy (played in the film by Judy Garland) who ventures into the colorful world of Oz.

Upon her arrival to this fantastical new land, Dorothy must travel down the Yellow Brick Road to find the mythic Wizard of Oz, allowing her to return home and escape the clutches of the evil Wicked Witch of the West (played in the film by Margaret Hamilton).

While various versions of The Wizard of Oz have come out over the years, Prime Video’s new series (titled Dorothy) will be set in the modern world, affording the showrunners a chance to depict the problems contemporary children face on a daily basis.

According to Deadline, Dororthy‘s development is being overseen by creator Gina Matthews, with Stefani and Shelton serving as producers on the show.

“We’re really excited about all the possibilities this show brings, and I’m so grateful that Gina shared the idea with me and [fellow producer Lee Moran],” said Shelton. “I knew right away it was something Gwen would connect with. Her creativity and perspective are such a natural fit for this project.”

“It’s a creative and modern take on a classic, and being part of something that blends music, emotion, and the character of Dorothy is inspiring to me,” added Stefani.
