Good Morning Britain star Will Godley has announced he is leaving the ITV show after four years as he takes up a new role on GB News

A Good Morning Britain presenter has announced his departure from the programme as ITV continues with widespread cost-cutting measures.

News correspondent Will Godley has been an integral member of the morning show’s reporting team for four years, providing bulletins from locations nationwide.

Nevertheless, on Friday, Will confirmed his ITV tenure would be drawing to a close – after securing a fresh position with GB News.

Using X, previously Twitter, to share the announcement, Will declared: “JOB NEWS. Thrilled to be starting as a National Reporter at @GBNEWS in September!

“That means I’m sadly saying goodbye to @GMB after 4 wonderful years.

“A huge thanks to the brilliant team, who even made the nightshifts amazing.

“Really excited to get stuck in at GB News!”.

Starting January 2026, ITV’s daytime programming will face significant scheduling overhauls.

Good Morning Britain will be lengthened by 30 minutes to broadcast from 6am until 9.30am each day, reports the Mirror.

Meanwhile Lorraine, which follows immediately after, has been slashed by half and will air for merely thirty minutes from 9.30am, instead of a full hour.

Additionally, the programme will only broadcast for 30 weeks annually, with Good Morning Britain extending until 10am during the weeks it’s absent.

This Morning will remain in its regular 10am-12.30pm weekday slot throughout the year, whilst Loose Women continues in the 12.30-1.30pm time frame.

Yet, similar to Lorraine, the panel programme will also only transmit for 30 weeks per year.

The news of Will’s exit follows the recent revelation that US correspondent Noel Phillips was let go from the programme.

Deadline reported that he was removed from his role on the show as part of ITV’s efforts to cut £15 million from its budget.

The journalist joined the show in 2021, reporting on major events such as the US elections and LA wildfires.

Following the announcement of his departure, Noel made an appearance on the ITV show, sharing a harrowing experience of being conned out of nearly $30,000 – his entire life savings.

I’m still in disbelief,” he confessed to the presenters.

“I remember two weeks ago I was lying on the kitchen floor numb, refusing to accept the fact I did something so stupid.

“I felt embarrassed, I felt ashamed, I felt worthless.

“On top of that, the excruciating pain of all of this is the mental trauma.

“How could someone like me who reports stories like this fall a victim? How could this happen to me?” Noel was left pondering.
