Tyler Hubbard Shares About The Peace Jesus Brought Him After Losing His Father

Country singer Tyler Hubbard, formerly of Florida Georgia Line, recently opened up about his faith and the peace he found in Jesus after the tragic loss of his father. Speaking on The Upload with Brooke Taylor podcast, Tyler reflected on how his relationship with God has shaped his life and sustained him through pain.

When asked what faith means to him, Tyler said:

“It’s believing in something you don’t always see. For me, it’s about a relationship — a relationship with Jesus. Through prayer and life experiences, you can feel His presence everywhere.”

Tyler shared that faith has always been part of his life, as he grew up in a home where his parents modeled their love for Jesus. Reading the Bible together and attending church “set the stage” for how he would live later on.

That foundation became vital when tragedy struck. At 20 years old, Tyler lost his father, Roy Wayne Hubbard, in a helicopter crash that happened in their own backyard.

“It was super graphic, and I was just shook,” he recalled. “I remember standing there, talking to God, and realizing I had two choices — I could be angry at Him, or I could lean on Him and trust Him. I chose to trust, and the moment I did, I felt peace that made no sense.”

That painful experience inspired Tyler’s emotional song “Miss My Daddy”, where he sings about grief, gratitude, and hope of reunion in Heaven.

“It didn’t seem fair,” he said. “But I feel like that was the moment my whole childhood was preparing me for.”

Growing In Faith With His Family

Today, Tyler and his wife Hayley are walking together in faith. Tyler shared that his wife’s spiritual journey has inspired him deeply:

“She’s been passionately pursuing Jesus, and it’s been amazing to grow alongside her.”

He’s also reading the entire Bible for the first time — something he once found intimidating but now finds rewarding.

“I’m not much of a reader, but I’ve been enjoying 20 minutes each morning with my Bible and coffee. It’s changed my days.”

Tyler credits God’s Word for grounding him, reminding him that peace isn’t found in understanding every situation — but in trusting the One who holds it all.

“The second I made the choice to lean on Him,” he said, “I felt His embrace.”
