Netflix has officially renewed Legends, the near-perfect 1990s-set crime drama, for a second season. Written and created by Neil Forsyth, the show follows a group of undercover British customs investigators who take on false identities to infiltrate Britainâs most dangerous drug gangs.
Based on a true story, the show, which debuted in May this year, stars Steve Coogan, Tom Burke, Hayley Squires and Aml Ameen.
They are joined by an ensemble that includes Jasmine Blackborow, Tom Hughes, Douglas Hodge and Charlotte Ritchie.
Announced today, Netflix confirmed that the thriller had been renewed for a second series, with production set to begin in 2027.
Forsyth said: “I’m delighted to have the opportunity to tell a new story in the fascinating and unique world that Legends offers, and to show just how dangerous, thrilling, and important their work became in the late 1990s.”
While things seemed to have wrapped up neatly at the end of season one, with the team cracking an international case and returning to their ordinary lives, a season two teaser suggests it won’t last long.
An official description for the new season reads: “Season 2 sees the unlikely team drawn back into the world of undercover manoeuvring, with the outside world none the wiser.”
The renewal of Legends comes as part of a slate of renewals for some of Netflixâs most beloved UK titles, including House of Guinness, Being Gordon Ramsay and The Gentlemen.
