Landman fans finally have a reason to feel optimistic about the future of the Paramount+ drama after the streamer confirmed that Taylor Sheridan is actively working on the next season.

The update comes after uncertainty surrounding the production schedule for Season 3 raised questions about when Tommy Norris and the rest of the M-Tex Oil crew would return. While filming has reportedly been pushed back from its earlier expected start date, Paramount+ has made it clear that the delay should not be interpreted as a sign that the series is in trouble.

Jane Wiseman, executive vice president and head of originals at Paramount+, confirmed that Landman remains an important part of the streamer’s relationship with Sheridan. During an interview with Deadline, Wiseman was asked about Sheridan’s current slate and the future of his relationship with Paramount+.

Her response directly mentioned both Tulsa King and Landman.

“Between Tulsa and Landman, which Taylor is writing right now. Frisco, Dutton, Madison, we have a lot of business, and we’re going to be in business for time to come,” Wiseman said.

For Landman viewers, the most important part of that statement is simple: Sheridan is currently writing the series’ next chapter.

That is particularly encouraging after recent reports suggested that Season 3 would not begin production as quickly as originally expected.

James Jordan, who plays Dale Bradley on the series, previously revealed that filming had shifted from an anticipated August start. According to the actor, cameras were instead expected to begin rolling sometime in September, with production continuing into the first quarter of 2027.

The delay naturally left fans wondering whether the third season might take longer than expected to arrive.

Jordan, however, sounded confident about the future of the show.

“It’s going to be 10 crazy, wonderful, funny and wild episodes — just like season 1 and season 2 have been,” he said. “Billy Bob and everybody, we’re all ready to get back to work.”

The actor also revealed that he had already received material for Season 3 directly from Sheridan.

“I’ve got the season 3 script. It was sent to me right in this phone,” Jordan said. “I will guard it with my life. But I snuck a quick peek.”

That revelation suggested that the writing process was already well underway even before Paramount+ publicly offered its latest update.

Wiseman’s comments now provide additional reassurance that Landman is firmly part of Paramount+’s long-term plans.

The series is one of several major productions created by Sheridan that have helped establish Paramount+ as a major destination for contemporary drama. Alongside Yellowstone and its growing collection of spinoffs, Sheridan’s shows have become an important part of the platform’s identity.

Wiseman described the strategy as an effort to continue serving Sheridan’s audience, referring to the interconnected collection of projects as the “Taylorverse.”

That audience has become increasingly important as Paramount+ prepares for major changes in its relationship with Sheridan.

Sheridan’s current Paramount era is not expected to last forever. He is expected to move to NBCUniversal in 2029, while longtime producing partner David Glasser has already made the transition.

That upcoming shift has inevitably raised questions about what will happen to Sheridan’s extensive Paramount+ slate once his new arrangement takes effect.

However, Wiseman made it clear that Paramount+ is not planning to simply abandon the shows that Sheridan has created.

Instead, the company intends to continue working with him as long as possible and build on the projects already in development.

“That is the hope, and that is the intention,” Wiseman said when asked whether Sheridan could create additional Paramount+ projects before his expected departure.

She added that there are already projects she cannot publicly discuss and emphasized the close relationship between Paramount+, Sheridan and Glasser.

“We have a couple things that I can’t talk about, but we work very closely with Taylor and David Glasser. We have a really great relationship,” she said.

That relationship could become increasingly significant as Sheridan’s workload continues to expand.

In addition to Landman and Tulsa King, his slate includes projects such as Frisco, Dutton and Madison. The sheer number of productions associated with his name helps explain why scheduling can become complicated, particularly when several shows require his involvement as writer, producer or creative leader.

For Landman, though, fans can now be confident that the story is continuing.

“We have more Landman coming,” Wiseman said.

That may be the most important piece of news for viewers who were beginning to worry that the production delay represented something more serious.

Season 2 ended with several major storylines still unresolved, leaving plenty of material for the writers to explore.

Billy Bob Thornton’s Tommy Norris finished the second season preparing to move in a new direction. After spending much of the series working within the complicated structure surrounding M-Tex Oil, Tommy appeared ready to take greater control over his own future.

That could fundamentally change the dynamic of the series when Season 3 begins.

Tommy has always been a character caught between different worlds. He understands the brutal realities of the oil industry, but he also has to navigate corporate politics, family pressures and increasingly dangerous business relationships.

His decision to strike out on his own could give him greater freedom, but it may also put him directly in the path of powerful people who have benefited from his loyalty.

Meanwhile, Demi Moore’s Cami Miller faces her own uncertain future.

The conclusion of Season 2 left Cami dealing with the increasingly complicated circumstances surrounding M-Tex Oil. As the business becomes more unstable and the stakes surrounding the company continue to rise, her position could become one of the central conflicts of the third season.

The relationship between Tommy and Cami also remains an important part of the show’s larger story.

Their opposing approaches to power, money and survival have helped make Landman more than a straightforward drama about the oil industry. Sheridan has consistently used the oil business as a backdrop for stories about ambition, family and the cost of success.

Season 3 appears poised to continue that approach.

The fact that the new season is expected to contain 10 episodes should also give the writers enough space to develop the next stage of Tommy’s journey without rushing the story.

Jordan’s description of the episodes as “crazy,” “wonderful,” “funny” and “wild” suggests that the series will retain the mixture of drama and dark humor that made the first two seasons popular.

For now, however, the biggest question is timing.

If production begins in September and continues into the first months of 2027, fans may have to wait considerably longer than initially expected before Season 3 arrives. A 2027 premiere therefore appears increasingly likely, although Paramount+ has not provided a firm release date.

The delay could ultimately benefit the series if it gives Sheridan and his writing team additional time to shape the story.

Rather than rushing the next chapter to meet an earlier production window, the creative team appears to be taking the time needed to establish where Tommy, Cami and the rest of the characters go next.

And Paramount+ clearly sees that investment as worthwhile.

Despite Sheridan’s future move to NBCUniversal, the streamer remains committed to maintaining the audience he has built on the platform.

With Tulsa King, Landman and several other projects still in development, the Taylorverse is far from disappearing from Paramount+.

For Landman fans, the message is therefore encouraging. Season 3 may be taking longer to arrive, but the series is not going anywhere.

Sheridan is writing. The cast is preparing to return. Production is expected to begin soon.

And with Paramount+ promising that “more Landman” is coming, Tommy Norris’ oil-country story appears to have plenty of fuel left in the tank.
