Rock legend Jon Bon Jovi and his longtime wife Dorothea Hurley are being celebrated by the public and media alike after announcing a deeply meaningful initiative: a $3.5 million investment to transform a historic home in New Jersey into a shelter for homeless and at-risk youth.

This project is not just a charitable endeavor, but a heartfelt homecoming for Bon Jovi — a native son of New Jersey, where his childhood was shaped and his musical journey began.

“There’s a piece of New Jersey in every song I’ve ever sung,” Bon Jovi shared emotionally. “This place gave me everything — my spirit, my voice, my start. What I’m giving back is only a fraction of what it’s given me. If this shelter gives young people even half the chance I had, it’s worth every note, every dollar. My music, and my heart, belong to them now.”

The property being renovated is a historic building in a former working-class neighborhood. Once completed, it will serve as a comprehensive support center for vulnerable youth — offering safe housing, mental health counseling, educational programs, and job training.

This latest effort is part of the work being done through the JBJ Soul Foundation, a nonprofit organization founded by Bon Jovi to combat issues related to homelessness and poverty across the United States. In the past, the foundation has built affordable housing and opened community restaurants like JBJ Soul Kitchen, where people can eat regardless of their ability to pay.

Dorothea Hurley, who partners with him in both life and philanthropy, added:

“We believe every young person deserves a chance. This is about protecting the future — not just of these kids, but of the community as a whole.”
