  • Jon Bon Jovi and his longtime wife Dorothea share four children: daughter Stephanie and sons Jesse, Jake, and Romeo Bongiovi.

  • The couple welcomed Stephanie in 1993, and Jesse arrived two years later.

  • They had son Jacob “Jake” Bongiovi in 2002, and welcomed youngest son Romeo in 2004.

When he’s not hitting the stage, Jon Bon Jovi is playing the part of rockstar dad to his four children. The Bon Jovi frontman (real name John Bongiovi Jr.) shares daughter Stephanie and sons Jesse, Jake, and Romeo with his wife of over 30 years, Dorothea Bongiovi.

The couple welcomed their first child and only daughter, Stephanie, in 1993. Son Jesse arrived two years later, in 1995. Bon Jovi and Dorothea welcomed son Jacob, aka Jake, in 2002. Jake recently became a father himself, welcoming a baby girl via adoption with wife Millie Bobby Brown. The family expanded one more time in 2004, with the arrival of son Romeo.

While it might not be the norm for rockers to settle down with their high school sweetheart, Bon Jovi wouldn’t have it any other way. Despite his fame, he and his wife have strived to give their children normal lives. “We never really drag the kids to things,” Dorothea told People in 2016. “I never pointed at the TV and said, ‘There’s Daddy!’”

In the same interview, Bon Jovi, 63, opened up about being ‘just Dad’ to his four kids. When gearing up for a 2016 concert promoting his eponymous band’s album This House Is Not For Sale, he extended an invite to his two younger sons. Their response was a relatable one for most parents of teens. “I asked if they wanted to go to the show and they said, ‘Um, no. No thanks.’ So that’ll keep you humble,” the singer said with a laugh.

His 2021 song “Story of Love” honors his family, with photos and mementos from their early years featuring in the music video for the sweet song. “I have never not been grateful,” the singer told Today in April 2025, when interviewer Willie Geist remarked on the singer’s joyful demeanor. “This is all pixie dust at the end,” he continued. “What have I got? A wife and family that love me, [and] a band that believes in me. I have a good life. I got what I want, I got what I need. That’s legendary.”

Here’s everything to know about Jon Bon Jovi’s four children: Stephanie, Jesse, Jake, and Romeo.

Bon Jovi and Dorothea welcomed their first child, Stephanie Rose, on May 31, 1993. Being a girl dad was a dream come true for the “Livin’ on a Prayer” singer, as he shared with fans at a 2017 concert.

“Everybody’s got a little girl in their life,” he told fans at the show, per a People article from the time. “Their daughter, their girlfriend, their wife, their mamma—it all goes by so fast. And they start out as little bitty babies and their future’s looking bright.

“And I wrote this song for that little baby, who’s now not such a little baby anymore,” he added, referring to the 2000 track “I Got the Girl,” which he wrote for Stephanie when she was just 7 years old. Stephanie made a special guest appearance during the 2017 Las Vegas performance to dance to the song alongside her father—a sweet moment that went viral post-show.

In the third episode of Hulu docuseries Thank You, Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story, the music icon called Stephanie “the first baby in the band,” adding that “[s]he’d be on the road with [the band], Dorothea would be out on the road.”

Nowadays, Stephanie isn’t usually the one on the stage. Since 2021, she’s worked in the television industry as a camera operator. Per her IMDB profile, the 32-year-old’s past credits include shows like House Haunters and Impractical Jokers.

When she does step into the spotlight, it’s alongside her family. In 2024, Stephanie made a rare public appearance at the MusiCares Person of the Year gala alongside both her parents. At the event, Bon Jovi received the titular award for his philanthropic work.

The same year, the musician revealed on Good Morning America that one of the songs he wrote for his next album, track “Kiss the Bride,” was meant for his only daughter’s upcoming wedding day. “She hasn’t heard it yet,” the musician explained. When asked if he’d be performing it on Stephanie’s big day, the father of the bride kept his answer realistic given the emotions of the moment: “If I can get through it,” he said.

Bon Jovi and his wife welcomed their first son, Jesse Bongiovi, on February 19, 1995.

The second Bongiovi child attended the University of Notre Dame, majoring in political science and playing football. After graduating, he launched rosé company Hampton Water with his father. Speaking to Haute Living about the brand, Jesse said the musician gave him valuable advice before they went into business together.

“He’s certainly passed along many lessons to me, but I would say the most important one has probably been to be patient,” the 30-year-old shared. “Being the young businessperson that I am, I am often expressing a desire to rush to do things. But my dad’s advice has always been, ‘You can’t take it back.’”

Since its launch in 2018, Hampton Water has earned multiple 90-point ratings from Wine Spectator. In 2024, the beverage brand introduced its debut artist series featuring a special rosé with a label designed by NYC artist Cey Adams.

As for the name of the buzzy drink, it comes from an inside joke between Jesse and Bon Jovi. ““My dad came over to me and asked ‘Do you want some more pink juice?’—which is what we used to call rosù. I told him ‘No, no, no, we call it Hampton water now.’ We just thought it was pretty funny,” he explained to People at the South Beach Wine & Food Festival in 2018.

“It’s been a dream
Jesse has always been very serious about everything he’s ever done,” Bon Jovi told the outlet at the same event.

As for his personal life, Jesse got engaged to his girlfriend, Jesse Light, in 2022, four years after they first connected at the famed Surf Lodge in Montauk. The couple wed on May 7, 2024, in the very same Las Vegas chapel where his parents quietly eloped 35 years earlier, per People.

The Bongiovis welcomed son Jacob “Jake” Hurley on May 7, 2002. He was born in Palm Beach, Florida, but grew up in New Jersey before moving to New York to attend Syracuse University.

In November 2021, Jake went Instagram official with girlfriend Millie Bobby Brown. The couple have made several red carpet appearances together, including for the premiere of Brown’s film Enola Holmes 2 in October 2022. He and the Stranger Things star quietly revealed their engagement in April 2023. Almost a year later, the actress shared more about the romantic—and, in Jake’s words, “life-threatening”—proposal in an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

Explaining that she and her now-husband got their diving licenses together, Brown recalled how Jake insisted they do a morning dive at a specific spot. “So we go under and we’re many meters down, and he gives me a shell. And I turn it over, and it’s a ring.”

Once they were back at the surface, Jake put the ring on her finger, only for it to fall down into the water. Per Brown’s account, her fiancĂ© dove after it, doing “a cinematic grab” to save the ring.

The young loves tied the knot in May 2024 with a quiet ceremony attended only by their families. “forever and always, your wife,” Brown wrote in the caption of an October 2024 Instagram post sharing photos from their wedding day.

In August 2025, Jake, 23, and Brown, 21, announced that they’d welcomed their first child via adoption—making Bon Jovi a grandfather for the first time. They revealed the exciting news in a joint Instagram post, writing, “This summer, we welcomed our sweet baby girl through adoption. We are beyond excited to embark on this beautiful next chapter of parenthood in both peace and privacy.”

The Bongiovi family expanded again on March 29, 2004, welcoming youngest son Romeo Jon.

Romeo lives a more private life than his siblings, although he has made a few rare public appearances with his famous father. In 2021, he stepped out with his parents on the red carpet for the fifth annual “LOVE ROCKS NYC” benefit concert livestream for God’s Love We Deliver. More recently, he attended the SXSW Festival in March 2024, again alongside his parents, for the premiere of Hulu docuseries Thank You, Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story.

In March 2021, Bon Jovi made an Instagram tribute post for his youngest son’s 17th birthday. He shared a photo of Romeo and Dorothea in NYC’s Washington Square Park. “Happy 17th birthday Romeo!!! Love, Mom and Dad,” the “It’s My Life” singer captioned the post.

Ahead of Romeo’s graduation from high school, Bon Jovi and Dorothea reflected on becoming empty nesters at last. “Just not being stuck to a schedule and being able to travel [will be nice],” his mom told People in 2020, adding, “But we like to see our kids. It’s not like we’re going to disappear.”
