The TV presenter put on a brave face as she reunited with her co-host Ben Shephard.

Cat announced the end of her 13-year marriage to Patrick Kielty in July.

Opening the show today, Ben said: “Welcome to your Monday’s This Morning. I hope you’ve had a lovely summer, it’s rather lovely to be back.”

Cat replied: “It really is, but we had a lovely summer though. Lots of beach action, family, friends, kids, ice creams as big as your head, all that kind of thing..

“But you know what, I was really excited to come back to work.”

The Sun on Sunday revealed she feared being seen as the “villain” in the break-up – having missed the funeral for her mother-in-law, Mary Kielty, in March.

Cat stayed home with her two young children in the UK, while her husband Patrick attended his mum’s service in County Down, Northern Ireland.

The couple, who have two sons together, Milo, eight , and James, six, released a joint statement in July, saying: “We have taken the decision to end our marriage and are now separated. There is no other party involved.

“We will continue to be united as loving parents to our children and would therefore kindly ask for our family privacy to be respected.

“There will be no further comment.”
