Faith Evans was Redman’s high school sweetheart. So, when she married The Notorious B.I.G., it admittedly made him a bit “jealous.”

During a recent interview with Acton Entertainment, the Newark-bred artist opened up about his past romance with the “Love Like This” songbird and her marriage to the late emcee.

“When she started her relationship with Biggie, I was jealous,” Redman confessed while laughing. “First of all, Faith was my sister’s best friend, and I met Faith through my sister. Yeah, we were all young. Me and Faith was dating at a very young age before we got on. Way before. She’s always been a sweetheart to me. She’s always been my heart.”

When Redman connected with rap duo EPMD, he admitted that he tried to get Faith intertwined as well. “She was and is still one of the best queens of R&B to me,” he stated. “I wanted to put her on, but I was just getting on myself. I really couldn’t do too much […] At the time, we wasn’t doing R&B.”

Eventually, Faith found her footing, they broke up, and their respective careers began to blossom. He was on tour- being a bachelor- while she began to date The Notorious B.I.G..

“When she dating Biggie, I was like, you know, Faith has always been a smart person, […] so of course she’s gonna move with good discernment. I was happy for ’em. I was really, really happy for ’em,” Redman shared.

He continued to gush about how proud he was of her. “Then they had a kid and I was just amazed at her outcome, like literally getting on, being successful, being part of one of the hottest rap crews at the time. I was, ‘Wow, she’s doing her thing.’ So only thing I can do was salute her, pray for her and wish her the best.”

Faith previously confirmed that the two dated back in high school during her Drink Champs episode from July 2018.
