Naga Munchetty delivered deeply devastating news during Friday morning’s edition of BBC Breakfast, announcing the identities of the two men killed in Thursday’s tragic attack at a Manchester synagogue.

Interrupting the programme with a live update, the presenter told viewers: “In the last few minutes, Greater Manchester Police have named the two men who were killed in the attack yesterday at Heaton Park, Hebrew Congregation Synagogue.”

She went on to reveal the victims’ names as 53-year-old Adrian Daulby and 66-year-old Melvin Cravitz. A spokesperson for the police force issued a heartfelt statement following the announcement, saying: “Our deepest sympathies are with Mr. Daulby and Mr. Cravitz’s loved ones at this extremely hard time.”

Naga went on to explain the steps being taken to support the bereaved. She explained: “We understand that the families have been informed. Family Liaison Officers are in contact with them and offering support from the Home Office.”

Providing further details, she added: “Post mortems will take place later this morning, and they will the families will be continued to be updated on the investigation.”

Naga followed with further details, as she confirmed the identity of the suspect. She revealed: “The killer is named as 35-year-old Jihad Al-Shamie, a British man of Syrian descent. Police have declared it a terrorist incident.”
