Good Morning Britain Faces Viewer Backlash Over Awkward Segment — Fans Say the Show “Missed the Mark”
It wasn’t a scandal. It wasn’t a slip-up. But it struck a nerve. When a morning show moment sparked online outrage, the conversation shifted — from entertainment to expectations. And the audience? They’re not hitting snooze
The GMB star has been urged by fans to take on a new role on ITV’s This Morning after he shared a snap of his Sunday roast on social media

Good Morning Britain presenter Ed Balls could be seen on a different ITV show, as viewers are calling for him to take on a new role.
Ed, who regularly hosts the show alongside Susanna Reid, has been a permanent fixture on the presenting team since 2022 after initially joining as a guest presenter in 2021.
However, some fans believe he has what it takes to become a This Morning personality, with calls for him to appear as a guest during a cookery segment on the programme.
Ed, 58, recently showcased his culinary skills on Instagram, where he shared a photo of himself preparing a Sunday roast, as reported by the Mirror.
Alongside the image, he wrote: “Roast chicken carved in the tin with garlic, lemon and coriander – was excellent (and half gone before I took this pic!)
“It didn’t feel like a Yorkshire Pudding day though… I made some gravy in the tin and put half in a boat and carved the chicken into the rest. With roast potatoes and air-fryed sprouts and asparagus, followed by a plum crumble with custard (Bird’s). Proper Sunday cooking.”
His followers were quick to praise the meal in the comments, with many expressing their hopes to see more of his culinary talents on television.
One fan commented: “Ed you need to be a ‘cookery guest’ on This Morning!”. Backing this view, another person commented: “I 2nd this x” Another viewer chimed in: “Third this. Lovely to watch, achievable cooking that looks so yummy. Not that all chef cooking isn’t.”
A different fan remarked: “Absolutely need a cooking slot or a book Fed with Ed.” While another queried: “Sounds lush. Have you ever been on celeb masterchef?”.
One person suggested: “Move over Jamie Oliver!” Another echoed: “Time you got a cooking programme.”
Previously, Ed has expressed his passion for culinary arts and baking, even creating a birthday cake for his co-host Susanna Reid in 2023, which was showcased on the programme.
Viewers have previously delighted in watching Ed’s kitchen expertise on television when he took part in the 2016 edition of The Great Sport Relief Bake Off, alongside Victoria Coren Mitchell, Chris Kamara and Kimberley Walsh.
Sadly for Ed he didn’t secure the crown, which was claimed by Kimberley Walsh. However, he did emerge victorious in the inaugural series of BBC’s Celebrity Best Home Cook in February 2021.
