Diddy’s Alleged Call to 2Pac’s Brother—A Posthumous Truth, A Quiet Phone, and a Question That Still Echoes

Diddy has been linked with Tupac Shakur‘s murder, and the legendary rapper’s brother opened up about how the former later called him, trying to convince him that he had no involvement in the shooting.
For those who don’t know, a white Cadillac sedan pulled up to the passenger side of Shakur’s car at a red light on September 07, 1996. At that moment, only Shakur and Suge Knight were allegedly present in the vehicle. An occupant from the other car shot at them, hitting the rapper multiple times. Shakur succumbed to his injuries on September 13.
Coming back to what Mopreme’s revelation about Diddy, he sat down for a discussion on The Art of Dialogue, and said,
Puffy called me back in the day. … He was like, ‘I just want you to know I ain’t have nothing to do with your brother’s [murder]. I know who you are, but we never met and I just want to call you man to man and let you know that I ain’t have nothing to do with your brother’s death.’
When suspect Duane “Keefe D” Davis asked for the case against him to be dropped, the prosecution filed a 180-page document containing a police interview where Davis made strong statements about the rapper’s involvement.
As per The Sun, Davis claimed in the interview that Diddy, aka Sean Combs, was prepared to “give anything [for the] heads” of Shakur and Knight.
Tupac’s Brother Doesn’t Believe Diddy Was 100% Honest About His Involvement
Combs’ name was mentioned 47 times in the interview, and he apparently told Davis that Shakur and Knight were worth “motherf*cking millions.”
While Diddy denied any claims tying him to the rapper’s murder, Mopreme admitted that he has his reasons for not believing him completely. During an appearance on Piers Morgan Uncensored, Mopreme revisited the call Combs allegedly made to him a few years after 2Pac’s murder.
Back then, the L.A. Times released a piece on Shakur’s 1994 shooting (via TMZ), the one before the fatal incident, alleging that Combs and his associates had planned it all. Morgan recalled Combs’ statement from back in the day, claiming that the story was nothing but a bunch of lies, and that neither he nor The Notorious B.I.G. had any connections to it. The article was later retracted.
When Morgan asked Mopreme what he thought about Combs’ statement, he replied, “My opinion is that I don’t believe it was a 100% honest statement.” As of now, Mopreme is simply waiting for the court to give him answers, instead of coming to his own conclusions.
All About Keefe D’s Upcoming Trial for Tupac’s Murder
While there are speculations about Combs’ involvement, Keefe D is the only person to have officially been charged in connection with Shakur’s murder. As per ABC News, prosecutors have stated that Davis was the “shot caller” in the fatal drive-by, having allegedly orchestrated it all.
The ex-gang leader pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder, and he has been in prison ever since he was arrested in September 2023. Davis is held at the Clark County Detention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Via The Guardian, Davis has talked about providing the murder weapon and about being the car during the incident in interviews and his tell-all memoir. However, court filings claim that his descriptions were only “done for entertainment purposes and to make money.”
Davis’ trial was set to begin in March this year, but in February, it was postponed to the upcoming year. His defense team asked Judge Carli Kierny for more time to interview witnesses.
In her words, “It looks like there are quite a few things that are left to be done to get this case prepared so that Mr. Davis can have effective assistance of counsel. Given that, it appears as though I really don’t have much of a choice but to grant it.” The prosecutors agreed, as well. Keefe D’s trial will now commence on 09 February 2026.
