I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! hosts Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly have publicly thrown their support behind Lorraine Kelly after reports emerged that her long-running ITV daytime show is set to be significantly reduced after 36 years on air.

During Tuesday’s episode of the hit reality series, the duo took a moment to acknowledge ongoing speculation surrounding the future of Kelly’s programme, which is expected to lose its traditional slot as part of a major daytime schedule overhaul.

The latest season of I’m A Celebrity returned on November 16, delivering its trademark mix of high-intensity challenges in the Australian jungle. One standout moment saw rapper Aitch endure a demanding Bushtucker Trial, which the presenters used as an opportunity to reference the uncertainty surrounding ITV’s broader programming changes.

Commenting on the trial, Ant told viewers: “Just to remind you, this was a secret underground bunker designed to safeguard the future of the Bushtucker Trial so that, in the event of a catastrophe such as the apocalypse, I’m A Celebrity would remain on air.”
Dec followed with a pointed message of support: “And you might not know this, but if there is an actual apocalypse, only two ITV shows would continue broadcasting — I’m A Celebrity and Lorraine. You can’t mess with Lorraine.”
Ant added simply: “He’s right.”

Lorraine Kelly, 65, has anchored her eponymous morning programme for more than 15 years, earning nationwide recognition for her warm interviewing style and long-standing presence on British television.

However, it was confirmed in May that Good Morning Britain will take over her 9am–10am slot for 22 weeks each year. In addition, Lorraine will be shortened to a 30-minute broadcast as part of ITV’s sweeping daytime restructuring.

Speaking on BBC Radio 4’s Desert Island Discs, Kelly acknowledged her disappointment: “Of course I was disappointed. This is the world we live in now. Things have to change — I’ve been through so many regime changes in my life.”

From January 2026, more than 220 roles across ITV’s daytime division will be cut, reducing the production workforce by half. Other programmes, including Loose Women, will also undergo staffing reductions.

I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! airs at 9pm on ITV1 and ITVX, while Lorraine continues to broadcast weekdays at 9am on ITV1.
