BBC presenter Michael Ball has shared that his mum has died.
The 63-year-old broadcaster posted a message on social media platform X revealing that his mum, Ruth Parry Ball, had died at the age of 91.
The performer posted a heartfelt photograph of his mum along with a brief message stating: “Ruth Parry Ball 1934-2025 x.”
The singer’s 158,000 followers swiftly filled the comments section with supportive messages in response to the announcement, according to the Express.
One follower wrote: “Oh Michael! I am so sorry to hear this news and so sorry for your loss. My deepest condolences to you and all the family. My thoughts and prayers are with you.”
“Rejoice in her life,” another fan encouraged, while someone else described it as “heartbreaking news”.
Another commented: “Condolences Michael, my Mother was the most important person in my life. Always there in heart and mind.
“Michael I’m sorry for your loss,” expressed another follower. “My condolences to you and your family. Somebody else told the star that his mum “must have been massively proud” of him.

Michael, who took over the Sunday Love Songs show on BBC Radio 2 following the death of Steve Wright last year, had mentioned his mum on social media before.
He gave fans the odd glimpse of their lives together, last year sharing that when she turned 90 they marked the milestone with a go on the world’s fastest zipline.
He posted on Facebook at the time: “We celebrated my dear mum’s 90th birthday this past weekend with a trip to Wales with the whole family. What did we get up to, I hear you ask – well we took a 90 year old on the fastest zipline in the world of course! Mx.”
The celebrity’s father, Tony Ball, who was honoured with an MBE for his contributions to the industry as head of global sales at British Leyland, also marked his 90th birthday last year.
