Hip-hop legend Tupac Shakur found his final love with Kidada Jones. The couple was engaged and living together at the time of his death, creating a deeply emotional story amid fame and danger.

Initially, Kidada kept her distance from Tupac because he had criticized her father, Quincy Jones, for being with white women — Kidada’s mother was white. However, they soon met again, Tupac apologized, and Kidada gave him her phone number, reconnecting their relationship.

In a short time, Tupac fell deeply in love with Kidada. He told his mother, Afeni Shakur: “I love her. She’s going to be my wife, she’s having my children.” The couple rented a house in Calabasas, California, and lived together for several happy months before tragedy struck.

The Tragic Night in Las Vegas

According to Kidada in her father’s autobiography, “Tupac was the love of my life. We lived together for four months, then he was murdered in Las Vegas in 1996. It was the most horrible thing that ever happened to me.”

That night, Kidada was with him in Vegas, waiting in their hotel room. When she received the call that Tupac had been shot, she rushed to the hospital. With permission from the doctors and Tupac’s mother, she was one of the last people to speak to him.

In a 1997 interview with Vanity Fair, Kidada recalled the heartbreaking moment: “Do you know I love you? Do you know we all love you?” Tupac nodded yes, but as she walked away, he began convulsing and fell into a coma before being removed from life support.

After Tupac’s death, Kidada experienced long-term depression, unable to speak or leave her home for months. She also carried deep guilt because she had a premonition that something terrible would happen if he went out that night. Despite her pleas, Tupac insisted on leaving.
