The search for the new face (or faces) of Strictly Come Dancing just got a whole lot more intriguing — and a little bit familial.

Barney Walsh, the 28-year-old actor, presenter and son of national treasure Bradley Walsh, has dropped a tantalising hint that he could step onto the famous ballroom floor — but only if his famous dad gets the top job first.

In a cheeky new interview, Barney teased the possibility of joining Strictly as a co-host or even a contestant, while making it crystal clear: if anyone from the Walsh clan is taking over from departing legends Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman, Bradley would be the perfect fit.

‘I’d love to do it,’ Barney told Entertainment Daily with a grin. ‘But honestly? Dad would be better. He’s got that warmth, that energy — he’d be brilliant at it. If they asked him, I’d be cheering from the sidelines… or maybe even joining him!’

The playful comment has sent fans and bookies into overdrive. Bradley Walsh — the 64-year-old presenter, actor and Doctor Who favourite — has long been tipped as a leading contender to front the BBC’s flagship Saturday-night show following Tess and Claudia’s shock joint exit after the 2025 Christmas special.
