“My garden is my happiest place…”
The five-time Grammy winner reveals her serene, self-sufficient life on a sprawling 400-acre property, where every meal goes straight from farm to table.

From the Stage to a Serene Homestead

Carrie Underwood, who grew up on a farm, has fully embraced nature in recent years. She and her husband, former NHL star Mike Fisher, purchased 400 acres in Franklin, Tennessee, in 2011 for $3 million, creating a peaceful retreat surrounded by greenery, lakes, and rolling hills.

The couple designed a custom estate with horse stables, a lake, orchards, and plenty of open space to enjoy a lifestyle close to nature.

The Garden — Her True Happy Place

Underwood calls her garden a “happy place,” where she finds peace, quiet, and time to reflect. She often shares glimpses of her expansive land and cherished organic garden.

Since 2018, she has maintained her garden, cared for chickens, expanded her orchard, and introduced other animals to the farm. In 2020, Fisher surprised her with two cows, affectionately named Brownie and Oreo by their son, Isaiah.

Living Self-Sufficiently

In 2023, Underwood partnered with Epic Gardening to build a greenhouse, where she grows citrus trees, herbs, seedlings, and other plants. Her chickens roam freely near their coop, providing fresh eggs every day.

The land also produces apples, peaches, blueberries, and blackberries, ensuring every meal is truly farm-to-table. She has expressed her love for the process of “growing something from nothing.”

Family and Faith

Despite personal hardships, including multiple miscarriages, Underwood relied on faith and patience. After praying for guidance, she gave birth to her second son, Jacob, in 2019.

Today, her family lives almost entirely off their land — vegetables from the garden and meat from Fisher’s hunts. Nothing goes to waste: table scraps feed the chickens, and the rest is composted.

A Self-Sufficient Dream

Underwood has expanded her garden with roughly 30–35 tomato plants, including 25 unique varieties, alongside squash, beans, onions, and peppers. She continues learning from books and podcasts about plant pairings, pest control, and seasonal growing.

Their “forever home,” completed in 2018, includes a full basement, multiple living spaces, a walk-in closet in the master suite, and plenty of room for their growing family.
