According to AFP, the incident, which occurred early on March 2nd, immediately placed the entire Central Michigan University campus under lockdown, forcing students to remain in their classrooms and dormitories until mid-afternoon while police searched for the suspect, a 19-year-old male student named James Eric Davis.

The suspect is currently at large. James Eric Davis is accused of murdering his parents in a dormitory building on campus. According to a university spokesperson, the incident stemmed from a family dispute.

Besides the suspect’s parents, there were no other casualties.

The Central Michigan University campus in Mount Pleasant, central Michigan, was locked down for several hours following the shooting at 8:30 AM on March 2nd (8:30 PM Vietnam time).

It wasn’t until 3 PM local time on March 2nd (3 AM on March 3rd in Vietnam) that the students were escorted out of the campus buildings by police.

According to police, the suspect, Davis, is a resident of Illinois but is attending a university in Michigan. The previous night, he had been taken to the hospital by police due to a drug-related incident, such as an overdose or adverse drug reaction.
