The family of late Ashlee Jenae says her body has been returned to New Jersey from Zanzibar Tanzania without her engagement ring and personal belongings.
Ashly Robinson popularly known as Ashlee Janae and her fiancĂŠ Joe McCann traveled to Tanzania for her 31st birthday on April 5. Two days later, Her boyfriend, who is aslo the founder and CEO of Asymmetric Financial, a crypto-focused investment firm proposed to her. A day later, they were placed in separate rooms at the Zuri Zanzibar after an argument.
On April 9, 2026, Joe McCann claimed he found Jenae unconscious, alleging she âh*ng herself on the door.â She was later pronounced dead at the hospital, her death listed as a s**c*de. Medical records claimed she had an unidentified mark around her neck, and died of âcerebral hypoxia by strangulation and suffocation.â
However, Jenaeâs parents, Yolanda Denise Endres and hercfather Harry Robinson granted a press interview and said she was happy and would never h*rm herself that way.
On April 14, officials detained McCann, confiscating his passport and holding him for questioning.
On April 24th, Jenaeâs father Harry told TMZ his daughterâs body has been returned to New Jersey, He said she was missing her engagement ring and other personal belongings.
While he doesnât know if theyâll ever get those items back, he presumes investigators are holding everything as the case remains active.
Harry also revealed the family conducted an independent autopsy and are awaiting results.
In the meantime, theyâve planned a funeral service in early May 2026.
Jenaeâs parents reportedly still havenât heard from her fiance Joe McCann and are still seeking hotel surveillance footage. Theyâre also still considering traveling to Tanzania to meet with officials in person for further investigation.
