Death certificate shows how conjoined twins from Ohio ‘house of horrors’ died after 1 hour

New details have emerged about the death of conjoined twins born to the Siders family in the Ohio house of horrors case.
On Nov. 20, 2022, Elizabeth Siders, 33, delivered conjoined twin girls, who died about an hour after birth. Faith and Bailey Siders were delivered at Riverside Methodist Hospital at approximately 24 weeks old, according to birth and death certificates.
It was initially stated that the girls had died of natural causes, but their death certificates have listed the tragic reason. The girls died of respiratory failure due to thoracopagus conjoined twinning and extreme prematurity. It comes as the haunting method the ‘house of horrors’ kids used to ensure they weren’t noticed in public was revealed.
Thoracopagus twins are joined face-to-face from the chest to the upper abdomen, according to the National Library of Medicine. These twins typically share a heart and may also share the liver or part of the digestive system.
Thoracopagus twins account for 28% of conjoined twins cases, and the survival rate is poor.
Police discovered 16 children living in shocking conditions in rural Ohio last month
Elizabeth Siders gave birth to 16 other children, who were found living in squalor in rural Ohio last month. She has been charged with 16 counts of child neglect for each of her children, along with her husband, Gary Siders Jr., and her in-laws, Gary Siders Sr. and Christina “Lynn” Siders.
Gary Siders Jr. is listed as the father of Faith and Bailey Siders, according to local NBC affiliate WCMH. Records obtained by the outlet also revealed that Elizabeth Siders delivered twins in her last two pregnancies.
She first had twins in February 2022, lost her conjoined twins in November of that year, then had twins again in both January 2024 and January 2025, which was the date of her most recent known birth. The children found in the home were between the ages of 18 years and 18 months.

Elizabeth Siders gave birth to her oldest child when she was 15, the same age she married a then-18-year-old Gary Jr. in West Virginia. In a news conference on July 1, Vinton County Sheriff Ryan Cain stated that the oldest child couldn’t write or spell her own name.
“Most of our livestock was kept in better conditions than the children,” Cain said, calling the house a “disgusting scene.” Ohio Attorney General Andy Wilson said that even as deputies prepared to raid the home on an arrest warrant for Gary Jr., they didn’t think there would be so many children living in the home.
“It’s the type of thing that we’re not used to seeing here in America,” he said.
All four defendants were due in court on July 7, but did not appear after each chose to waive their right to a preliminary hearing.
