(NewsNation) — Daily Mail crime correspondent Rachel Sharp spoke with NewsNation’s Brian Entin about what she witnessed sitting in the courtroom while a 911 phone call placed by Patrick Clancy was played in court.

The recording has not been released to the public.

“It was one of the worst, the worst things I’ve ever heard,” said Sharp. ” It was the screams coming out of Patrick (that) were just unearthly and guttural and unlike anything I’ve ever heard.”

Sharp said Clancy was panicked but able to speak with the dispatcher when he found Lindsay Clancy in the backyard, after she had jumped from the second-story bedroom window. Clancy was able to provide reassurance to Lindsay.

“Then when emergency responders arrived, he was heard saying ‘ I’m just going to go check on the kids,” said Sharp. “…You could hear him running down the stairs and then these unearthly screams. And yeah, and then he was unable to speak. His words were indiscernible until he screamed out, ‘She killed the kids!’”

The entire courtroom was emotional as the recording was played, according to Sharp.

“Jury members were crying,” said Sharp. “Lindsay’s parents were crying, members of the media, the public. Lindsay herself was hunched over the defense table quietly sobbing. But then when the judge immediately called a recess, the second that stopped playing, he cleared the courtroom and she broke down in loud uncontrollable sobs. It was very distressing for everyone in the room.”

Court will resume today, following an early dismissal of jurors after Judge William Sullivan refused the defenses mistrial motion. The motion was filed after the term “mortal sin” was used for a second time during the testimony of psychologist Kirk Heilbrun.
