A horrifying investigation is unfolding in Colombia after an eight-months-pregnant woman disappeared following a prenatal appointment and was later found murdered. Authorities say her unborn child was missing, raising disturbing questions about what happened in the days before her body was discovered.

According to investigators, 21-year-old María Camila Potosí, of Cali, Colombia, was eight months pregnant and preparing to become a first-time mother.

On the afternoon of July 16, 2026, after attending a prenatal checkup earlier that day, María Camila was last seen climbing onto the back of a motorcycle with another woman in the Polvorines neighborhood of Cali.

Her family never saw her alive again.

Four days later, on July 20, authorities discovered her body near the Meléndez River.

Investigators reported that her hands and feet were bound, her body was wrapped in sheets or blankets, and she had suffered multiple stab wounds. Authorities also said there were signs indicating she had been tortured.

Perhaps the most disturbing discovery was that the unborn baby she had been carrying was no longer in her womb.

Family members said the baby, a girl they planned to name Alahia, was expected to be born around mid-August.

Authorities have not announced whether the baby has been found.

Investigators believe more than four people may have been involved in the crime and continue to pursue multiple leads as the investigation progresses.

No arrests have been announced, and authorities have not publicly identified a motive.
